What Would You Do If Someone Stole Your Dream?

What would you do if someone stole your dream?  Does this sound like a silly question?  Is it really possible for someone to steal your dream?  Maybe, maybe not.  You and I both know that dreams can be very fragile.  We are often very careful about sharing our dreams.  Erma Bombeck said:

It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else.

Honestly, I don’t know what I would do if someone stole my dream.  Absurd thought?  Or is it?  Of course, I realize that ultimately I am responsible for protecting my dream. I was looking through some old journals and found notes about plans I had for my life.  My walk down memory lane really excited me because a lot of those plans have come to fruition in my life!  I wonder how I would have felt if they hadn’t come true?  And yet, there are dreams that are yet to be realized.  That’s exciting!

Stolen Dreams & The Blame GameStolen Dreams

Have you ever wondered why it is so easy to blame others for the failure to accomplish our dreams?  No need to wonder, we often blame others when our plans go awry.  You and I can see this at work in children.  If somethings doesn’t go right they get upset and usually blame someone else.

Well, why don’t we get upset when someone steals our dream?  As a certified professional coach I work with many clients who  have allowed limiting beliefs to stop them from achieving their dreams.  Probably because that someone is us.  Our dreams haven’t been stolen, instead we often stop believing in our ability to succeed.

So let’s talk about your dreams?  What do you want to achieve in your future?  What steps can you take to avoid the perception of stolen dreams?  An important key is identifying your dreams.  Let’s discuss four common reasons people miss their dream:

  1. They have been discouraged from dreaming.
  2. They are hindered by past disappointments and hurts.
  3. They have settled for being average.
  4. They lack the confidence needed to pursue their dreams.

Although these are reasons why you might miss your dreams, they have not been stolen and you are not stuck; coaching can help you.

Why Your Dream is Important

Your dream is important because it provides you with a picture and a blueprint of your purpose and potential.  It should be guarded and protected.  Your dream is priceless!  It is a source of direction and meaning in your life.  Well, lets say that a clear and compelling dream gives direction and meaning to life.  So it is important that you identify your dream and continue to work to make sure it is clear and compelling.  When you clarify your vision or dream it will reveal your sense of purpose.  Can you answer the following question:  What were you put on earth to accomplish?  Answering and being true to that question is like an alarm system.  Most people have alarm systems installed in their home for the security it provides.  The system will notify the owner when an intruder is trying to gain entrance to their property.  Likewise the dream thieves can only succeed if we are not protecting our dreams.

So if you are ready to overcome discouragement, face your disappointments and hurts, refuse to settle for average and build your confidence contact me for an initial consultation.

To your empowered life,

Delphine
